Emuser & RS-232

Emuser & RS-232

2012-10-19 by emax1user

Hi, noob here but I'm interested in building an Emuser for my newly acquired Emax 1 keyboard. I haven't had the time to crack open the case and examine the PCBs to see what version. However, it is a non-HD model.

The main question I have before buying the parts is:

The port on the back of my Emax says RS-232, not RS-422, will this still work with the Emuser? Or am I out of luck?

The EMuSer is a custom device just for Emax amd I think Emulator 2???

Additionally- Emax does use RS422.
That is why a custom box needs built because a standard PC RS-232 port doesn't work.

If you have any questions regarding getting SCSI, let me know.
I am "the guy" for that.

Hi Ted, I have a Emax 1 SE and would like to know more about what I need to
do and where to start with fitting SCSI please.

Thanks Ted. I opened up my Emax today and found that I have the PC327 version 2 rev C board with a SCSI-capable TIM PAL (IP356). I don't have a 5380 and my EPROM is IP349. Are you selling any parts?

Re: [emax] Re: Emuser & RS-232

and that is cheap if you try and buy the chips seperate they will cost you
more the tim pal chip you have to burn your self

the cheapest i could get the scsi chips was in quantities of 50+ @\ufffd15 each
which is mega if you only want 1

you still need to do the wire mods and trace cuts to get it to work

as the tim pal has the extra logic for the scsi interface but the mother
board still has not the traces for the scsi to work so it will not be a plug
and play option

you might be lucky that they fitted the larger socket as they did on some of
the later revision boards

I will gladly buy a kit from you. I don't use Paypal. I can either send the USD equivalent in bitcoin, or send cash or money order in the mail to you.
