[EMAX] Slim floppy & hxc loppy rev f

[EMAX] Slim floppy & hxc loppy rev f

2012-11-26 by krikor kouchian

Hi,

I was wondering it would e possible to install a slim floppy and an HXC
floppy emulator instead of the original floppy drive on an EMAX Rack.
i only saw examples with SCSI card readers and slim floppy replacements.

No.. HXC completely replaces regular floppy drive.
It is where you are not willing to do SCSI.

You can only hook one floppy drive to the Emax.
Emax would not know how to interact with a second floppy drive.

Much better to do SCSI where you can have 35 banks per SCSI drive accessible directly through Emax menu.

That is my opinion.

Regards,
Ted

what the point in that they are both floppy devices

if you have a rev1 board just fit the rev f hxc emulator dont need to fit the slim floppy aswell

hxc is not scsi and will only load as fast as the original floppy

but it is just a swap no messing with extra circuit boards to get it working unlike the slim floppy

The idea was to keep a real floppy as i don't have a PC, only a mac, and
handle original floppies is a hassle without one
this way i could switch between the two. But i'm gonna look into the SCSI,
if my machine is compatible! i couldn't uderstand if it is or not, i wrote
ted about it. The digital board shows version PC327 v2 board rev C. The
analog is PC326 v3 rev C

Re: [EMAX] Slim floppy & hxc loppy rev f

2012-11-26 by jammie

only one floppy disk controller you cant have 2 floppy disks in there

its either the original floppy drive or slim or hxc rev f

you can install only 1

but with scsi you can install the slim floppy becuase the scsi does not use
the floppy disk controler
