I typically use an external Zip drive as it gives me the flexibility of using both media (there is just sometimes when I need the floppy.) If you install an internal ZIP the floppy has got to go unless you want to cut another hole into the Emax and add another power supply. If you are talking about an Emax HD you can only load 35 banks as bank 0 is the floppy(only 20 MB can be used of the 100MB possible with the ZIP.) If you have an Emax II then you can switch out up to 100 banks if the banks are 1MB in size less if they are larger than 1MB. What I like to do on My Emax HD is use an external SCSI ZIP and an External SCSI CD ROM. I Have burned my own factory bank Floppies to CDs and can access all of my factory library on CD Rom. I use the ZIP drive as backup and store my currently used songs and setups to the internal hard drive. In my eyes the ZIP drive will perform every bit as good as the internal HD. Beware the Zip drive is quirky when it comes to mixing it with other SCSI hardware. Experimentation in termination, SCSI order, and cabling may be required. In this case you are on your own.

If I remember right the power supplies inside the Emax and Emax II can not handle the
pull of an internal Zip drive. They will eventually burn out. Best bet is to go with an
external.
