Emax II Issue

Emax II Issue

2013-02-28 by peccisteve

Hi there!

I'm having some trouble with my recently acquired Emax II Keyboard.

When powered up, LED's for Transpose, Drive Select and Dynamic Processing remain on. After a few seconds, Transpose turns off, but the two other LED's are still on and the unit doesn't completely boot. Furthermore, the LCD show no letters at all, just a black stripe on the first line.

What can I do to get the unit working again?

P.S. Here are some pictures of the Emax when powering up.

Start by reseating your ICs and the connectors to the main logic board.

Ok, cool. One more question (well two part).

the HD's are 50 pin SCSI? just in case I need to replace it. And what is the process to flash the SE Plus OS to the HD? Can any floppy disk with the SE Plus OS format the HD?

Re: [emax] Emax II Issue

yes- it is 50 pin scsi- it might not handle a drive larger than 512MB.
They came w/ 20 and 40MB drives.
most people are moving to flash media these days.
boot from floppy and format hd from the menu, which will copy the OS.

I forgot to mention I'm not into electronics at all, so I wouldn't risk myself inside the Emax... Tha would make things worse! Any idea who could help me out?

If you don´t wanna spend money first try reseating IC´s on a garbage circuit board. Same opinion as Ted....i had the same event on my EMax, finally resolved by this way.
good luck hunting the IC.
