working with a sequencer

2013-07-29 by cheju_99

Hi: I'm having some trouble working with an emax1 and a Kawai q80ex. I'm doing some phrases i.e. beat plus bass and I have no control with the proper midi channel assignation, the emax apparently recognizes only one channel and can´t get channel separation and control track. Reading the manual they talk about the Supermode map but for me it´s a completely mess, somebody can describe it in simple terms?.

grettings

"Super Mode also allows Emax to read all sixteen MIDI channels at once
and to route each channel to a different preset. This is called Super Mode Mapping."

However, the tracks need to be assigned to be R (REC) or P (play) to play the sound.

cheers

you have to make some trax in emax sequencer before you can use more than one midichannel. select rec on all emax seq trax, press rec and then stop after one second. now you can change emax trax to play and assign different patches to diffrent trax. as i recall you set midichannels in presets before you add them to the trax. this is the way i use to make emax multitimbral through diffrent midichannels, it is about 20 years ago so i could be wrong about this. hope you've got an hint solved by this!?

good luck!

Engage / press the Supermode, make a new sequence in emax, arm - make
recordable 8 tracks (or what you think you will need).
press record > play > and stop. Now you have a supermode / multitimbral
sequence. Each track in the sequence corresponds to a midi channel.
like: track 6 = midi channel 6.
Either use your outboard sequencer to make progam changes or direct
the emax sequence tracks to each own preset.

Ok, thanks to all for your ideas and guidance, the point is, may be my emax is too old, and frequently when I make changes on the sequencer, the emax simply hangs up.....
cheers.
