Technical data and information
- RIFF overview · a short straightforward overview of the internal file structure used by .WAV files and lots of other file formats
- IBM/MS RIFF file structure document, version 1.0 · Techhie info for programmers who want to read and edit .WAV files and other files that use the RIFF file layout scheme. Note that WinXP can treat the contents of "info chunk" entries (copyright, etc) as extended file parameters, which is rather useful.
Utilities and sample convertors/editors/managers
- File Audio Processor (SprintBit Software) · Batch sample editing! If you want to crop and optimise several hundred samples quickly, this will do it for you. Or apply EQ to create "loud" and "soft" versions of samples for crossfading, in bulk. Oh yes, and it also has bulk filename editing (stamp, search and replace, autonumber, parameter, prefix/suffix, etc), and can set authoring/copyright/etc info inside the files as info tags (still some "issues" with tagging on the current version)
