Bonjour Cyril,
I ordered GOP, because if I use it 10 times in one year, it will have
paid itself back. I bought it because, at that price, if there are 5 or
6 useful instruments and/or articulations for me (and I'm sure there
are more), it'll have paid itself back. Look, I bought a sampled organ
for nearly the same price less than a year ago.
Of course it will not replace the bigger libraries. I'm sure its
trumpets or horns will not sound as fantastic as SAM's, but that to me
is not the point. I feel that in order to do my job, I need all kinds
of tools: big and small, pristine and quick n' dirty (for eg, I have
two pocket knifes for opening things, one has one blade, the other is a
32-attachments swiss army knife - they're both useful).
From what I've read here and there, it looks like GOP is very easy to
use right out of the box. This can be really useful for small gigs on a
tight schedule. For the bigger budget, longer schedule work, sure you
can dig into the bigger libraries, and spend some time looking for the
right articulation (which of the 7 types of pizz do I really need
here?). I'm pretty sure that I will end up using combinations: solo
violin from GOP, violin section from GOS, trumpets from SAM, percussion
from EWQL, etc. I can't speak from experience about VSL, but of course,
I'm sure it's fantastic... as long as you have the budget for it.
