... because if you just have a bunch of aiff waves, there's no way 
the EXS can know which should go where.  Your best bet is to use the 
"multiple file import" (somewhere in one of the menus of the EXS's 
Instrument Editor).  I usually pick the chromatic option when the EXS 
asks me how I want to import them, and then 1) adjust zone lengths 
manually one by one, and 2) use the Key Commands "move zone up/down 
inc. rootnote" to shift the zones into their proper position (these 2 
KCs are real life-savers when creating your own instruments!).
