I'm also looking for a self-contained orchestral library in that price range. I'm considering either the GPO or the Quantum Leap/East West Symphonic Orhestra. The latter has a silver edition that's $295 (http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml/details.phtml?sku=EW-161). I'm trying to compare the demos - both the GPO and the
QLSO have a Beethoven 5th demo, but it's so hard to tell since you never know how much extra processing was used to sweeten the sounds. The QLSO silver edition comes wrapped in the Kompakt engine, which I don't think is OS X - compatible yet, but it should be soon. There's a cool site all about the 'new generation of samplers;'
it's a joint effort between EastWest/NI/Zero-G to make self-contained libraries in dedicated Kompakt and Intakt samplers: http://www.new-sampling-generation.com/sampling_microsite/index.php?id=home
I know it's a bit early to tell, but does anyone have any opinions on the GPO vs. the QSLO?
