EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

I loaded in a bunch of Akai instruments into Logic, which I now realize 
I should have
converted before trying to use them. But my problem is the EXS doesn't 
see any instruments now. I thought
it was because I was running up against the "too many instruments" 
problem that I read about
here recently, but that's not the case. I removed all the akai 
instruments from the sampler instruments
folder, along with the samples, and just left in the factory 
instruments and samples in the Sampler instruments folder.
Went into project manager and did a "find used files for selected 
items" It seemed like it was loading the samples for
each of the instruments, If I click on an instrument in project 
manager, it seems to have the right location for the
samples under the instrument. Did "save project manager data" When I go 
to the EXS in the song, however, there are no instruments loaded, and
refresh menu finds nothing either. Also tried "find unresolved file 
references", but it turned up nothing
The heirarchy on the hard drive is
Applications
       Logic 6
           Sampler Instruments
                 EXS Instruments
                      #Factory Instruments
                       EXSamples.

So what am I missing here, and how do you elegantly move instruments 
and samples in and out of the sampler instruments
folder for different projects if there is a cap on how many instruments 
you can have loaded at the same time?
