Obviously not embarrassing or costly enough to make you pay for 
software :)

If I am wrong, and you have paid for Logic, and EXS, wipe your hard 
drive, [low level format] then install logic 4.8.1 and your issues will 
be solved. [your problem is the result of a dodgy version being 
installed]
