EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

I just bought exs manager, thinking it would clear up my problems, but 
I'm just not
getting this. EXS sampler instruments have disappeared in some of my 
songs.
If I open up a brand new song (open logic, select NEW), my instruments 
are there,
no problem. If I open up a song I used before, no instruments. Refresh 
menu does nothing
Went thru project manager, it sees the EXS instruments, did a scan, did 
a find unresolved files,
it sees the instruments, sees the samples, but it isn't seen in the EXS 
itself - no instrument.

I did move all the instruments and samples to
User/Sampler Instruments, and there's an alias in the
Applications/Logic/Sampler Instruments folder pointing to the User 
folder
(which seemed to be how EXS Manager wanted the files set up.)

So what magical step am I missing in the other songs where it won't see 
the instruments?
This is very frustrating.
Is there a comprehensive EXS manual? The little one I have has only 
basic
setup and no problem solving bits at all.
