1- there is NO reason or a prove that Protools can handel more tracks or
edits if you have 2 systems, a  protools and a native with an Atto SCSI Card
and a Cheetah drive. If you  don't defrag Protools will probably crawl too
2-A lot of companies who don't Do VST "for political reasons where Digi=MS"
are porting to the new RTAS proprietary format "Bombfactory/Mcdsp...."
3-With Latency down to 1.5ms natively "RME/Nuendo" TDM blur is fading, not
to mention that most software synth is native and connected to protools.
4-While the 888  sound really good the new boxes from RME/Motu12 sound just
as good and offer more features.
5-for the price of a mix system + 888, I would rather an RME hammerfall
Apoggee interface, +Lexicon Box + 3 TC box+ FatMan compressor+ Electrix EQ+
a SCSI RAID.
