EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

While I'm sure it's wonderful, VSL is hardly "budget". Why not look at
Garritan Orchestral Strings "Lite", which you can get for under $200 in Giga
format, then convert to EXS using the built-in converter, or with Translator
or CDXtract. For considerably more, you can get the Sonic Implants Mini
string library, but on a Mac that's difficult to install. If you have a PC,
that's another matter.

I haven't tried the Session strings, but I have GOS Lite and it's quite good
(not perfect). Some of the demos for Session strings sounded OK, others
rather cheesy. But any library can be made to sound cheesy if the user
doesn't know how strings are supposed to sound, so it's hard to tell how the
Session strings might work for a skilled sample user.

If anyone's interested, I can put up examples of an original orchestral
piece I sequenced using the Garritan library (GOS Lite), as well as the same
piece using the Sonic Implants (SISS Mini), and with both GOS and SISS
blended together (which I like the best.)
