Pete Thomas <pt@...> wrote: Couldn't find any replies before so I'll try again: I know I've seen some help on this but a search on Yahoo brought nothing, so here's my question: I have partitioned Mac G5 into 3 volumes 1 Mac HD boot volume for office work 2 Mac HD boot volume (Logic) so Logic is in its own boot volume 3 Separate volume for audio files. I know that EXS samples can be anywhere, but is it best to have them: (a) on a separate partition along with the audio files? (b) on a separate partition just for EXS samples? (c) all the audio files AND exs samples in the same boot volume? (d)exs and/or audio files on another drive - either internal or external firewire? My questions relate purely to performance rather than ease of organisation. I have experimented with combinations and have not noticed any difference, however I'm about to start a project that will rely much more heavily on EXS, so I would like to know of any experience you have all had with this. TIA Pete Thomas www.petethomas.co.uk Though I didn't try all the possiblities I have all my EXS samples and reason files( rx2 audio, wav audio and other int stuff like nnxt, subtractor etc) on 250 gb external firewire hd and they all work in great harmony :) I have my exs inst files on the boot volume exactly in the app/logic 6 series / sampler inst folder without any aliases. They all work fine and I nearly have 30000 instruments. hope it helps
