How to import GarageBand software instruments into EXS24 II in Logic Pro 6

2005-01-02 by dougiegalbraith@yahoo.co.uk

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the software instruments from GarageBand in the
EXS24 II sampler in Logic Pro 6?

I have tried copying the appropriate files from GarageBand i.e the sampler files and
sampler instrument files (Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/
Instrument Library) into the appropriate sampler folders inside the Logic Pro 6 Application
folder (EXS Samples & Sampler Instruments). Once I have done this and I go into the EXS24
II sampler and go to choose a sound, the GarageBand Instruments show up alongside the
Factory default sounds but when I choose one, I get a message saying that the file is
corrupt or not in the right file format.

This is confusing as the EXS24 II factory files and the GarageBand sampler files appear to
be exactly the same when you compare them in "Get Info" in the finder. They have the
same extension and are usually the same size (around 12KB).

Are the GarageBand samples slightly different in format from the Logic samples? But if
Logic Pro 7 can use them, does that mean that the Sampler in Logic Pro 7 has been
upgraded in order to use these files?

I hope someone can help as it would be great to use some of these sounds from
GarageBand, particularly the Kit sounds.

Thanks
Dougie
