That's what I did before posting this thread,  the permissions for the soundfont are "read and write".
I tried another one, checked "read & write", put it in the sampler instruments folder, opened
EXS in Logic Pro 7, the soundfont shows up in the menue, klicking on it - same error message.
And the procedure is as described in the manual
