EXS files are simply control files that define how one or more .wav
files are mapped out across the keyboard. So if you want to create a
.exs file, for EXS to play it, just create a New Instrument, add a
Zone, and load one of these samples into it.

Perhaps you want to map many .wav files in a single .EXS instrument.
Then use the "Load Multiple Samples" under the Zone menu.

You don't necessarily need a third-party convertor, although
Translator www.chickensys.com has some nifty options on mapping
multiple samples.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
