<<Hi Terry

How do you like EWQLSO and VSL? Do you prefer one or the other?

How are they on the processor load, do you use multiple computers
or run all in one box?>>

DAve,

I love both. Although there are many times I need a type of
string sound and cant find it in EWQLSO so I go through my VSL
and usually find it. I think I needed Flautando strings once
for a sci-fi show and found some great combinations in VSL.
What I like about VSL is that it runs very nicely on my EXs24.
the EXs24 is a very efficient sample player and works very well
inside Logics environment. The EWQLSO is another story. I had
a second PC computer configured just for the EWQLSO and may
eventually have another made to help break that library up even
more. (i.e. strings on one computer/ woodwinds and brass on
another and maybe percussion/ivory piano on a third?) At the
moment I have EWQLSO running better inside V-stack>Kontakt 2 on
my PC than it does on my Mac although if you have a really top
end mac and enable DFD you shouldnt have any problems. DFD
makes the sample STREAM for better performance.
If your serious about writing big opus's with giant arrangements
then mutiple computers is the *only* way to go. (imho of
course...)

PS/Note: Oh and you dont have to spend a FORTUNE on the PC you
have running EWQLSO. An Athlon 3500+ 3.5 gigahtz is fine and
their not a fortune although you'll spend a littel more on hard
drive space since most orchestral libraries take up room. When I
had a PC build JUST FOR all of my softsynths- well that was
another story. THOSE require really fast processing speeds and
LESS hard drive space...
