Separating Octaves

2008-03-15 by David Evans

Message posted by David Evans <therealbigd@...>:

I have started to use the EXS 24 edit function more recently. Its great for
separating drum kits into aux channels so you can apply different FX /
levels to different parts of the drum kit, especially key bits like kick /
snare.

So the other day, I decided to see what would happen if i Changed the
octaves outputs of a Piano sample. I used a multi-channel plugin, set the
key range of the first zone from C1-B1, second zone to C2-B2, and so on. I
then set their respective outputs to Aux1, Aux2 and so on. I was expecting
no change except which aux the sound came out of.

However, it made all the octaves on the piano identical, so there was only 1
pitch of each note wherever on the keyboard you played it. Can anybody
explain this?
