If you check back through the archive on yahoogroups.com we were discussing this only a few weeks ago - in essence EXS24 has a dir for instrument definitions you must use, or use a symlink/alias to. The samples can be anywhere and EXS24 will find them by magic, as long as you avoid duplicate sample names.
