Success! I guess it was the combination of upgrading to LAWP 4.6, trashing the preferences file, and reloading the original drivers for my M Audio Delta 66 audio card. As per the suggestion of an Emagic rep, after upgrading to LAWP 4.6, I loaded back in the audio card drivers and did a clean install of the EXS24 from the second (CD-RW) drive. When I opened Logic and chose EXS for AudioInst1, it asked for the CD, went through a couple of little screens and told me that authorization was successful! Cool, huh!?! I guess we might want to add "reinstall audio drivers" to the list of suggestions when the next person posts a message about problems with EXS24 installation/authorization.
