I am looking forward(if you can say that)to beginning to convert my kurz library to the exs format, but there is one thing I need to figure out: I use controllers a lot when playing samples, the main example being using the pitch wheel to control amplitude. Playing a string patch, for instance, I constantly ride the amplitude in a (hopefully) musically expressive way, to help the samples behave more musically. So the first thing I am going to want to do in the exs is map the pitch wheel to amplitude. In the kurz I just do it on the amplitude page, simple. And also the kurz responds to expression, controller #11, which is designed for this purpose. I do not want to use controller #7, and actually write volume moves, because I want to be able to control the overall volume of the sound in the mix independantly. So, the question is, which parameter should I use in the exs? #67, output volume, doesn't seem designed for this, besides it's quite zippery because it's in 1 db increments. #96, level fixed, is in .5 db increments, so it's a bit smoother, but it seems like this also has another function. And the most likely choice, #11, seems tied up with... time via key? Isn't expression on controller #11 commonly found on any general midi synth? Anyway, does anyone have any ideas about how the best way to do this? It's the only thing standing in my way.(Oh that and the fact that I can only get a response from controllers 67-79, all the rest don't respond, but I guess that's another issue) Thanks.
