David, EXS does what you're asking effortlessly. Make sure you are viewing all possible parameters for each sample in the edit screen. Click the loop function (start, stop & crossfade duration should appear). Pick some arbitrary start & stop points and start the duration of the crossfade at 1500 miliseconds (1.5 seconds). If it's a short sample, lower this time length. Click on the "E" in the sample edit box to go into Logic's audio editor where you can edit the start/stop points based on a visual representation of the wave form as well as by trial and error by listening to the wave. It doesn't get any easier than this. I don't even worry about "clicks" in the crossfade anymore because of how polished the crossfade feature is. It's a non-issue in the EXS if you know what you're doing.
