Between all of Sascha's uploads, Tony Thompson's, and other freebies on various sites, we've got lots to work with. Not to take anything away from commercial sample libraries; they're obviously in a different ballpark alltogether. But it could really be a statement as to the fundamental democratic nature of the web; shrinking the gap between the have's and have not's (in terms of sample libraries that is, which of course is an extension of one's economic power). It would also be a statement as to the rampant piracy we all live in the midst of. We'd be saying "you can do it without stealing" Anyway, I'm not sure why exactly I've gone off on this rant; it's just that the idea touches something in me. Something about working from a psychology of abundance rather than scarcity....... Rather than that mindset of never having enough samples (which I know we all experience to some degree or another), working from a mindset of abundance: We all have more than enough samples to make great music! -- Eli Krantzberg Nightshift Orchestra / Almat Productions http://www.nightshiftorchestra.com
