This is something I've been interested in also.

If you go here <http://www.soundcentral.com/~chickeneps> they have a
translator program that does all kinds of formats to other kinds but
currently it's for PC only. They state that there is a mac version in
development but the status has not changed in some time. I know the owner of
this company is quite responsive to user requests so maybe send him a mail
asking. If he gets enough of them it may move things along a bit.....
