From what I have seen and read, Kontact is a sampler made for different
types of special effects etc (granular synthesis, independant pitch & time
shifting, etc) and it will be no substitute for EXS, as EXS is a great
general workhorse of a sampler (with razor sharp timing since it is so
integrated into Logic). I think Kontact and EXS24 will peacefully co-exist
on many people's machines - EXS24 doing all the general sampling work and
Kontact being used for special effects etc. 

In any case easier preset switching is requested *very* often, and since
Phil Jackson of Emagic, during his Australian tour, was showing off new EXS
enhancements in the beta of 5.2 he was running, I'm pretty confident Emagic
has had time to work in this relatively simple feature request. I guess
everyone with 5.x will see once 5.2 is released for download.
