Igor: a patent review of gear, but I think you've missed out on a lot of the
EXS's functions. Go into edit mode and click on the "E" in an individual
sample section. You can do far more in this sample edit screen (normalize,
cut, splice, process, trim, et cetera) than I could ever do on a hardware
sampler (or at least do nearly as quick). You can even set up your own
custom keyboard shortcuts for these functions. If your missing out on this,
your missing a great deal of power in the EXS24. For me the EXS easily
replaces hardware, but only in a studio environment, not in a live
one--unless you think it's easy to drag around a Tower with a Hammerfall
card I/O in order to get the rock-solid live MIDI timing you don't enjoy
with other I/Os, like my VX Pocket on my PowerBook for instance. Works great
for all my studio work!
