Regardless of the difference, EXS24 only works within Logic and does not
support other hosts. Hence the reason why I thought that a cross grade
from EXS24 to HALion might be an option.
I have to admit that the price Steinberg are offering is very good, and
I am tempted, but I left the Cubase camp a few years ago for Logic and I
feel like a bloody ping pong ball.
Even though Sonar isn't in the same league as Cubase and Logic (my
opinion only so don't shoot me) I am surprised they haven't jumped on
the band wagon and offered a cross grade to their XL version. Though
this is not an option for me due to the lack of native VST support.
One other thing I was thinking about was the purchase of a Apple
Titanium Powerbook for my audio a few months ago, but purely out of
principle I now feel that Apple are playing a game I want to part in.
There is no point in sawing sawdust I suppose, can't blame Apple for
wanting us to purchase their hardware. And it does give the Apple
community more than two things to boast about in the PC vs. Mac war.

How does HALion compare to the EXS24 ?
Regardless, ?190 upgrade is excellent value - and you can keep your
Logic
stuff too anyway, so you'd be mad not to take up this offer if you're a
PC
user, and gently take yourself over to the Dark Side.
unless Emagic change their stance, I'll be off come September.
Steinberg also state they are absolutely committed to supporting both
platforms - while this is no guarantee, but I think that if they do,
you'll
see them as a clear winner within 2 years.

I Wonder if they will do a cross grade to HALion from EXS24 also. I
have
just emailed the UK distributor to ask if this is also an option.
