Whether you have to do tweaking or not, it really depends on the complexity 
of the instrument, and whether the source files has stuff that the 
destination depends on, and if the destination responds similarly as the 
source. Sometimes some tweaking has to be drastic, most of the time not, 
since most sounds are not tweaked to a significant degree. I'd with a good 
translation program, 85% go as is, generally.

Feel free to contact Chicken Systems directly if there are issues with 
Translator, there may be several reasons why something didn't go over 
correctly, perhaps you are not using a current version, perhaps there's 
something that throws a curve into the process that is specific to what you 
are doing. You can also give us the specific file that way, so we can check 
it and constructively address your issue.

As mentioned on the other post, we are download the Hollow Sun site and 
completely cross-checking all the sounds for quality on both PC and Mac 
platforms.

We have translated the complete Akai FTP site with Translator to EXS (from 
.akp) and the results have been real good.
