Hi all, In pursuit of better understanding crossfades in EXS MkII I did a small experiment. I created three consecutive crossfades between two samples. Crossfade 1: Equal power, Crossfade 2: Linear, Crossfade 3: dB linear. The two samples: - 1 triangle wave (Vel Select Range 64-127) - 1 square wave (Vel Select Range 0-63), tuned 1 semitone different I used sample select by CC#11 (expression), 1 - 127 linear increased. I made two small mp3 audio files with three crossfades each. File1: Crossfade range 50%, File2: Crossfade range 10%. You can find the files here: http://www.zeppelin.demon.nl/Ztudio/ks/Crossfades10percent.mp3 http://www.zeppelin.demon.nl/Ztudio/ks/Crossfades50percent.mp3 My conclusions so far: 1. The three crossfade types render quite different transitions 2. Optimal instrument crossfade settings are hard to predict. It depends largely on the type of sound and the effect you're after. Your ears should be the judge. 3. The blue EXS24 MkII Control screen is rather user friendly compared to the fancy new skin when setting up new instruments. All comments are welcome.
