I've heard rumors that the Kurzweil K250 piano from 1984 - still the best sampled piano I've heard - was made with some kind of machine. They also used different pianos to get the best sound in each register. This piano doesn't crossfade, so I've used a gated exciter to add sparkle at higher velocities. I have a feeling that a combination of DSP and great samples is a good way to do it. It would also be great to have just the pedal down resonance sounds from Steinway's The Grand. That plus the K250 grand would be awesome. (Actually the 250RMX rack version - I'm finally retiring my keyboard, since it's so expensive to keep fixing and I'm tired of having a second one in the garage for parts...) -- Nick Batzdorf 818/905-9101, fax -5434, cell 818/601-4874
