I think it's unfair to compare digital bits to wine :), but the manufacturer of this product determines the conditions under which the user may USE his product. And what I've understand from this discussion is that the YT manufacturer sees the YT product as undividable, so the software-interface + available sounds *must* be used as 1 product. So it's not the question what technically is possible to separate or manipulate. The question is 'how does the manufacturer wants us to use the product to its orignal intention (producing sound/music)'. So to some degree, yes, the manufacturer tells us what glass to drink from....and has the right to (due to a license agreement between manufacturer and client/user). --- In exs-users@yahoogroups.com, Hendrik Jan Veenstra <h@k...> wrote: > Thoughts from the mind of ewald_kegel <ekegel@c...>, 11-01-2003: > > >The obvious difference between your 1st example (FileMaker) and the > >2nd (EXS) is that in the first you are not (instantly) re-using the > >samples to > >create/ output sound and music, while in the 2nd example you do, so > >in the latter case there is unfair competition with the YT-product. > > Quite irrelevant imo as you still need to purchase the YT product (or > download the demo) in order to be able to use the samples.
