So I'm imagining that many of us are dealing with this issue of how to set up our EXS system for maximum power and efficiency, with the goal of making music with the new generation of orchestral giga libraries. The folks using Gigastudio are way ahead of us in this regard, being that there is a ton of information and resources out there for getting the most out of your GigaDAW. It would be great to hear from people who have figured out how to get the most from their EXS/Logic setup! My current setup is a G4 dual 450 with a 2nd internal IBM ATA 80gb 7200 rpm drive, and multiple 120gb external firewire drives. Before Logic 5 I was keeping all of my samples/programs on an internal drive, but since upgrading the software, I've had to go to at least one dedicated external 120gb firewire drive to hold the massive amount of orchestral samples I'm hoping to use. I have not really tested this setup out much, so I'm expecting to run in to problems, of course... I noticed that Glyph sells some sort of audio-optimized, rack-mountable array build around multiple hot-swappable hard disks. I wonder if that's a wise investment to make, or can a person assemble something like that themselves? Let's keep this thread going! TC
