first up forgive me if everyone knows about this... I read this on the Sound-on-Sound forum and thought everyone who's got a dual processor should know as it sounds like it could majorly increase the power of your computer. I quote: "...almost all work is shoved to a single processor by default, someone has discovered a beautiful workaround . On any track in the mixer page of Logic, you can add an Logic plug-in which will send ALL the info on that track to the under-used processor (including any plug-ins used on that track). Just: 1) Open plug-in window on chosen track 2) Choose: Logic > Helper > I/O 3) Select a channel for audio output (any channel will do) 4) Press "ByPass" (so the plug-in is greyed out in the mixer channel) That's it. Now all information on that track (including other plug-ins) will be processeed by the 2nd CPU. You can verify this by looking at the system performance meters in OS9 (no longer possible in OSX since they combined both CPU meter into a single 1!) I've been using this trick for 3 days now and it is truly incredible; it has virtually doubled the amount of work I can do on a song. I'm able to add Waves, Altiverb, etc to songs that were overloading the system before and STILL have plenty of power do spare. Thanks to stupid8track on Sonikmatter forums for making me aware of this (though it was someone on LUG who first discovered it, I think). There aren't many tips which drastically change the way you work, but this is certainly one of them!" hope this is useful. _________________________________________________________________ Worried what your kids see online?
