polyphony, a simple rule of thumb is more polyphony = less 
instances. i use a 1ghz powerbook and haven't had any cpu 
issues yet. i'd have thought that full string arrangements with 
each articulation playing only 1 or 2 voices per exs instance at 
any given moment won't cause many difficulties, if any. i regularly 
have 16 exs instances, each with a single drum sound, the 
whole thing making up a full drum kit, and the cpu meter is only 
showing a few bars of usage. bandwidth won't affect how many 
voices are playable but ensure you have enough ram to load all 
those gorgeous 4840530495803495 bit samples ;)

Hi Andy - thanks for your reply. So you are saying that four or five 
part harmony could bog things down quickly, but orchestrating 
the same melody with different instruments would not be a 
problem?
