The EXSP *was* a VST plugin originally, so it was very well possible to run
both the EXSP and the EXS simultaneously. I doubt anything has changed just
because of the sole fact of the EXSP being an AU device now.
Btw, I would take the time to sample as much as possible as long as you
still have some time left on your EXS demo. Even EXSMkII patches are still
loading fine in the EXSP (at least all the mappings will stay intact, you'll
only lose the UI settings).
