You're looking in the wrong place. The menu you mention is for settings for the EXSP filters, etc. You have to load your instruments from the 3 green dashes at the TOP of the EXSP. As for the location of the instruments, I have my instruments in LOGIC>VSTPLUGINS>EMAGIC>SAMPLER INSTRUMENTS. I don't think it matters where you put the actual samples.
