Hi Ned,
are you using the Kirk Hunter solo strings? I'm thinking about buying
them.
I'd love to hear your opinions...

Julie,

I don't have them yet. EXS-regular Gary Pozner does - perhaps he can
comment? I have heard that there were a few conversion issues... The demos
sound great!

Best,

Ned

The sounds in the KH strings are great. Very playable. If you can't get the
real thing these are the best I have ever heard. I did have some problems
on my mac recognizing the DVD's. I first tried with a dual 867 and couldn't
read all the DVD's. At fist it was thought to be a problem with the DVD's.
Kirk Fedexed me new DVD's immediately. WHen I had the exacct same problem
with the new DVD's I decided to try them on another mac. I used my older
powerbook and all was fine. I hope this helps

Hi Gary,
one more question if you will. Are the instruments importing
correctly...ie mod wheel, key switching etc.

thanks again,
julie

Dear Julie,

I am so old school sampling none of this matters to me. I bought the
original emulator back in the early 80's. Rather than have one sample
program for everything. I usually use different programs for different
spots in the score. SO this is a long winded answer telling you the
samples are there to do what you want, but I can't say the programming
transfers. You should email Kirk Hunter the creator. He is very
responsive. Also I am specifically referring to the KH solo strings

Thanks Gary,
The demos sound just great....I contacted Kirk Hunter...and as you
said...he was very helpful. I'm not sure why some of the key switching
doesn't work...we'll see...I made the leap.

Thanks again.

[EXS] [OT] Loopzilla Funk Guitar & Bass

2003-08-30 by Sean McCoy

Following up on my recent posts regarding the seeming shortage of good
guitar loop libraries, I did purchase this disc from Big Fish. Although the
selection is somewhat limited, it does contain a lot of very good & funky
rhythm guitar tracks. Unfortunately it's only available as an audio disc,
and extracting accurate, useable loops from these files is a nightmare. Has
anyone here, by chance, already done the work for this disc and would be
willing to share it?

We ought to consider creating a pool of some sort for just this problem, as
long as we can do it in a way that wouldn't violate any copyrights. For PC
users using Sound Forge, we could post just the sfl files for the
extractions that would only be useful to those who owned the original
discs. I'm open to any other ideas.

Re: [EXS] [OT] Loopzilla Funk Guitar & Bass

2003-08-30 by J-Mac!

Hey Sean,

I've not personally heard this library before, but I have about 10 sample "audio" CDs
myself that I've been able to extract, and made a nice library for my EXS24. I've also
converted these sample for the Roland VP9000 and the Akai MPC2000xl as well. To be more
direct, I've been able to convert "Guitar" samples as well as drums from audio sample
cds. In order to do this, and do it right, my suggestion to you is to purchase Recycle!
by Propellarhead, which is a great tool for doing this, and I use it RELIGIOUSLY!

In spite of what people may say about this program, it's the best for the job, and is
very good for getting your slices just right. After making slices, you can export them
for EXS24 along with a "Trigger" midi file that you can import into LogicAudio (assuming
that is what you are using). The work is a little tedious, but well worth it when you
complete the job.

Hope this helps a little.

J-Mac!
