Put the .GIG file in your sampler instruments folder.
When you open EXS24 you should see the file in your sampler instrument flip
menu.
When you open the file it will automatically convert it.
You can then remove the .GIG file.

Alternatively you can use a program such as Translator or CDXtract to
convert.

What's weird is that I get terrible cracks everytime I play a note that has not been played before.

Well I only have 512 MB of ram and I don´t have that problem. I can run Logic and Hammerfall with 1.5/3 ms latency on my PC with the virtual memory on. I also have a couple of pianos that takes up almost 2 GB and still no problem. A friend of mine uses a similar 1.5 GB piano live, no crackles, little latency and on virtual memory. All in all there´s good reason to believe that it´s not Logic that´s the problem here (not alone anyway). I´m a Windows user and I don´t know your platform so maybe that´s it.

Converting a Giga file to EXS is simple, you just put the file with the .gig extension in the sampler instruments folder. Open Logic and an EXS instance, select the sound and Logic with automatically start to convert it.
