Firewire drive shows filesizes TOO big

Firewire drive shows filesizes TOO big

2003-10-02 by drthfdr

I'm having a strange problem here with my firewire drive.
Every file i copy to it shows up as 3.5MB (!!) in size. As a result, my 120 gig drive is
getting full, and i've only loaded in a handful of sessions, as well as some cdroms.
When i check the individual files via the 'get info' dialog box, they all default to
3.5MB, BUT, the (in parenthesis-k-) number appears to be correct.

I'm running os 9.2.2 and os x.2.8 - on a 667 Tibook, and the behaviour is the same
on both systems. And - come to think of it - it's the same when the drive is plugged
into my QS-933 with 9.2.2

Also, when i copy a file (be it readme or audio) to the FW, it says it's 3.5MB, but when
copied back to the internal HD, it 'shrinks' back to normal.

I've rebuilt the desktop on the internal drive, as well as the firewire drive. Repaired
permissions on the internal, run disk first aid, and speed disk on the firewire, but no
luck.

As an example, i have a akai pno cdrom, converted to exs, and the folder is almost 9
gigs!

Any ideas??

Thanks

Sounds to me like you've formatted yr firewire drive as "Mac OS
Standard". Try reformatting it as "Mac OS Extended" and the problem
should go away.

VSL/EXS24 for OSX

2003-10-02 by Colin Shapiro

For EXS24 users that have Vienna Symphonic Library:

Logic 6.3.1 is released and I hear from folks at the VSL forum that
the Performance Tool is now working in OSX!
There are new tools downloads for OSX on the VSL site.

Also of possible interest to folks here:
There is now room for XSkey authorisation for SoundDiver. Parhaps
this means that we'll at last see an OSX version of SD.

Xmas in October!!! :-)

Thanks a lot. That's indeed what happened..
I sent the drive out to be 'repaired' a while ago, and it must have come back this
way...

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
