Demonstration sounds

Demonstration sounds

2003-10-16 by douglasforman

I'm a newbie to Logic (6.3.1 OSX MAC G5) and have just activated the
demo of the EXS24 Sample Player.
However, when I pulled down the drop list to try some Factory sounds,
there is no list of Factory sounds present.
Is my Logic install missing something?
Or is there somewhere else I can download patches (samples?) to load
into the EXS24 so I can try it out.
In particular, I would like to try some good acoustic piano,
orchestra and drum/percussion sounds.
Thanks for any pointers.

There are a number of .exs instruments that you can find on the web.
Just do a search for that file extension.

If and when you buy the sampler from Emagic you will get one CD-ROM
with about 600 MB of .exs instruments.

And if you feel adventurous and you have a few stray .wav or .aiff
files on your harddrive why not make an .exs instrument or two
yourself. It's a good exercise. It's not easy at first but you will
have fun. . . maybe :-)

There should be two folders in your install in the same folder as your
Logic program:

* EXSamples, which contains folders of samples, a folder per instrument
* Sampler Instruments, which contains .exs files that define each
instrument (referencing the samples in EXSamples).

If you don't have this, you might want to look on the install disk.

There are about 16 instruments in my folders and they're almost all the
"ECO" version which stands for "economy", meaning fewer samples than in
the full-blown version.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
