pc laptop optimization for exs/logic/softsynths?

pc laptop optimization for exs/logic/softsynths?

2003-10-23 by will_ritter

Going to the darkside and buying a pc laptop for work (huge apple fan). I'd also like
to use the laptop for exs/logic/softsynths/reason, etc, specifically for playing live.

Any must have's to make the laptop music friendly, such as Pentium 4 mobile,
hyperthreading, minimum ram, bus speed? Any brands or issues or things to avoid?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...and if there is a better place to post this,
please let me know.

Thanks!

Make sure you have a good torch and ample batteries. ;-)

Read up in the october issue of Sound on sound. There is a great article
on how to go about when choosing a modern pc laptop for music. You can
probably find it on their website as well. With or without online
subscription.

Will, this article covers a lot of topics. But in general I find SOS a
good read for music, recording and computer related stuff. So I wouldn't
be too reluctant about it.
