Albook 17" 1.33G-does it stream properly

Albook 17" 1.33G-does it stream properly

2003-12-02 by Jeff Fisher

Yesterday I tested Logic 6.32 on a PB 17" 1.33G at my local Mac dealer.
I tried to play more than 3 tracks on it using internal audio(maybe 10
streaming voices from my FW hard drive) and I got Coreaudio errors. My
Tibook 500Mhz does better than this. I was ready to buy the box before
I tried this. I assumed that with a 166Mhz bus instead of a 100Mhz bus,
and almost three times faster CPU I should be able to get more voices
going. Machine was running Panther. I tried repairing permissions, the
mac would still crap out.
So my question is...is anybody using this mac with the emphasis on
streaming large amounts of ESX24 voices a la Vienna Symphonic
library? Are you happy with its performance? Right now my only portable
choice seems to be stick with my TiBook 500 and freeze tracks a lot.

	Thanx in advance

Maybe people have played with the computer so much the settings got
trashed or something in the OS has gone haywire. If you were at a
music store then who knows what has been damaged. Can you email
emagic? Better yet post on the "logic-mac" group! :)

BTW, how do you like the Vienna Symphonic library? <Private reply
