my e4k ,into my powerbook g4 (obviously the computer has no scsi
connection?) sorry if this sounds dumb but i admit i'm i little confused!!!

Look at the included Akai convertor and it's similar.

The software is able to decipher more disk formats than what the Mac knows.
They look at the connected devices and upon seeing your SCSI drive, they
display it in their interface. You browse to search for the Bank you want
to convert (or maybe you want to convert the whole disk), and click the disk

The Emu Banks are converted into one or more .exs files, which hold the
mapping and the parameter info. The samples are converted into individual
sample files (WAV, AIFF, or Whitman). Both files can be selected to go
anywhere.

Then you go into EXS-24 and load em up!

Both programs have demos - try them out.

Kind of diffficult to connect a scsi drive if you have no scsi
connector on your laptop...
