EXS manual...

EXS manual...

2004-04-06 by Gareth Hemmings

Dear wise people

I have had Logic and my EXS24 for about 10 months now and have slowly been
picking up lots of info etc for it and reading your words of wisdom in the
list digests as well as the excellent and informative stuff on the Logic FAQ
pages. However, I still feel I could be doing a lot more with the EXS but a
lot of the info is going right over my head at present cause I am lacking a
lot of basic knowledge. The manual that comes in the box is not very
enlightening. My long winded question is does anyone know or can recommend
a good EXS24 manual/bible/user guide? Thanks in advance.

If you find one, let us know. The manual supplied with Pro 6 is the
same old out of date book that doesn't even have info on all the
features in EXS MkII !!

Documentation and indexing are not strong points with Emagic..... :-(

Agreed - anyone else get a copy of the EXS24 manual (with the Logic Pro
box) with page 81 inexplicably.... in German? Still trying to get their
take on the Giga release trigger feature...

I got the EXS 24 manual with my EXS mkII sampler....now I'm stuck with no
reference for the matrix features and on the hunt for a current manual....they
even wrapped the EXS 24 box in a mkII sleeve with mk II software, but didn't
bother to give me the proper manual....big drag...any suggestions?

!!! Yes - mine too. I never noticed that German page. Even the .pdf
manual has it.

Also missing (I have reported this to Emagic and had no response):
There seems to be no documentation anywhere about the <Select by
Groups> function in the EXS24 instrument edit window.

Maybe when they've finished developing the next few virtual
instruments to sell, they'll start thinking about their old
customers.........somewhere around Logic Pro 8.

There's quite some info about the EXS MkII features here:
http://www.emagic.de/support/download/lainfo5e.html

If you got any other questions, just feel free to ask here.

Btw, yes, I agree, delivering proper manuals have never been a strong thing
at Emagic.

Sascha

Hey Steve, Sascha,

Thanks for the leads, but no, the only manual that even mentions those
features (or giga import for that matter) is the printed exs24-II
manual, from what I can tell.

bietet.

?

TIA

Thanks Sascha, but the newer features are still not covered in this document.

If anyone from Emagic monitors this list:
PLEASE update your pdf's or at least provide a short new doc with
info about new features.
It's the least you can do for your paid customers.

Thanks, but these are really old. The pdf on the Logic Pro CD is
newer, but still nowhere near complete.

To Emagic:
Please update your website!!

Giga conversion with release trigger: Here you can adjust whether the
release trigger function of the Gigasampler format is to be transferred
to the EXS or not. This is important, if you like to remain compatible
with the EXS24mk1, which does not offer this functionalty.

Here is a rough translation of the following paragraph.
Giga conversion with release trigger: Here you can decide if the release t=
rigger
function of Gigasampler formats will be taken over, or not, within the EXS.=
  This is
important in case you wish to remain compatible with the EXS 24 mk1, which =
doesn't
offer this functionality.

Hope this helps.

Giga-Conversion with Release-Trigger. Here you can adjust whether
Gigasamplers Release-Trigger function should be adapted to the EXS files or
not. This is important in case you'd like to be compatible with the EXS24mk1
which doesn't offer this functionality.

Ausgezeichnet! Vielen dank, Sascha!

(hope I didn't inadvertently insult you, if so blame the web
translation bots.. :))

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
