Interview With John Keane

2004-04-20 by Ned Bouhalassa

Another excellent interview on Northern Sounds. This time, it's wth the
composer of CSI, John Keane, an EXS24 user!

Enjoy (I did!):

Many email readers and clients chop url's because of their length. Just
paste it out, connect it together, and paste into your browser.

Unfortunately, there's no way around this - no one can control the sender's
method of sending, or any intersecting servers that want to hard-code a
line ending at x amount of characters.

It's probably a good idea that whenever anyone posts a potentially long
URL, that they disclaim it with something like "this URL may come across
split up between lines. Simply connect the multiple pieces together in a
text editor, then paste in your browser."

Also, it's good practice to put a URL on a separate line, at char "0", to
reduce the potential of breakage.

Although this is starting to become common knowledge, many people don't
know about this yet.

While I'm off topic, I found a great utility called Speed Typing

www.colorpilot.com/speed-typing.html

It's free, and it's Windows (sorry, Mac users, unless you know of a similar
util for OS9/X) and it allows you to substitute short cryptic phrases for
medium or long ones so you don't have to keep typing them.

So whenever I have to type "Translator", which I habitually type as
"Tranlsator" because of a baseball injury to my left index finger (don't
steal third with two outs, please), I just type "TLR" and it automatically
types out as "Translator."

I use it for words and for multi-paragraph things I wind up saying frequently.

Sorry for the off-topic, cut it here. But it's a real time saver.

You have to copy and paste the entire, very long URL. It ends with the
number 157755.

OK. I finally got it. Didn't realize it ended with 157755. I kept pasting
the first part. Thanks.
