[EXS] Unpacking SoundFonts

[EXS] Unpacking SoundFonts

2004-05-03 by Lenny Stearns

I downloaded some Soundfont samples to convert to Logic's EXS24, but
they are in a 'packed' format. Does anyone know of/have a utility to
unpack these on the Macintosh, or is this a PC-only type of thing?

Also, is there something that decompresses RAR files on the Mac?

Regards,
Lenny

Unfortunately, that doesn't help me on the Mac. It appears to be Windows only.

I've been wondering about these as well as files ending in .sfArk.

I should say I can't open the .sfArk V1 files.I can open the .sfArk V2 files with a free utility
called sfArkXT but not .sfArk V1 files or the sfpacks either.
As for .rar files I've found the free utility UnRarX and it works fine.

   Thanks again,

  Jay

Yes, this link is to a OSX version of the SoundFont unpacker.

I can unpack most soundfonts,it's the ones that end in .sfpack that I still can't open.Is this
a "Windows" only file? Also I was wondering if there was a way to open .sfArk V1 files.I can
open .sfArk V2 files with unRarX but if I try to open a .sfArk V1 file it tells me it's a V1 file
and rejects it.The website says if I encounter sfArk V1 files to contact the creator of the
files and get them to convert them to .sfArk v2 files. Is there another way?

  Thanks,

   Jay
