DS Soundware Review

DS Soundware Review

2004-05-17 by gary from whirled music

Dear Per,

If you have no personal experience with the vendor why are you even giving
your two cents. You have just read a post by an actual
sample/user/purchaser giving an actual experience. DS soundware was given
several chances to just deliver what they promised. They didn't. They
didn't provide adequate explanation for not. And then did not provide proper
crediting. This is the same as giving a comment on the samples sounds. I am
commenting on my experience with DS Soundware's recent service.

DS Soundware advertised on this this selling there sounds. I went to there
web site like what I heard. Ordered the sounds overnight delivery for a
session the next day. and then didn't hear form them for 4 days.
Now almost a month later. I had to resolve it all through my credit card
company as DS Soundware never sent me the sounds, and neither did they issue
me a credit. I had to call my credit card company and contest the charge.
I'd say that is bad business. I 'd say that is not delivering what you
promised. while they may have delivered on every other order they have ever
filled, this one they didn't. So let this just serve as my review on their
customer service. This is not an attack on anyone, just a comment on the way
they do business.

I am in the business of delivering music. I don't deliver when i have
promised, I have defaulted on that promise.

I?m not in any way related to Donnie other than being in the same
business and maybe therefore being competitors.
I don?t know anything about what?s been said and not in this matter
other then has been said here.

Donnie has been around about the same time as I have and have from day
1, as far as I have seen, made great samples and always provided with
excellent customer service. I?ve been active in the same forums and mail
lists as Donnie for a long time and I have never read anything that
could imply that DS Soundware hasn?t delivered what they have sold.

Gary,

I issued a public apology to you for our slip up. I have been doing this since 1999 and
have been pretty succesful. In that time we have only been late on one order and
unfortunately (for all of us) it was yours. I told you through a private email that I have had
some serious family issues that I have had to deal with that I would wish upon no one.
Again my only regret is that this had to be made public.

Per, thanks for your support. It's developers like yourself that make me actually want to
go in this business.

Re: [EXS] Maximum instrument number

Dear fellow ESX users,

I seem to have reached the maximum sampler instrument number in logic. I am
using 6.4.2 in 0S 9.22. I am assuming this as Logic crashes when I try to
load an esx instrument and if I remove instruments from my sampler
instrument folder I am fine. Has anyone found a way around this?

Thanks

Gary

Hi there Gary,

I can't help you, but you might get some answers from users who post in
the EXS section of the VSL forum:

http://www.vsl.co.at/english/pages/forum/start/forum.htm

Good luck!

Ned

PS: Move to OS X already! ;-)

Thanks Ned,

I will look them up. I have, of course, emailed logic with no reply. I
am scared but I will upgrade to a G5 and OS X before the new year. Was
mainly for waves plug ins to be fully supported.

Thanks again for the tip. PS just saw my favorite Canadian artist last
night Jane Siberry, she was great.

Happy Holidays

Thanks, I'll check it out. For now I just created a "Sample Instruments
(Unused)" folder and I keep the stuff I don't use a lot in there. I
figure if I need anything there I can just drag to the regular
instruments folder.
