MIDI cc's and logic instruments...

MIDI cc's and logic instruments...

2004-10-06 by Silas

I'm having the damnedest time getting my Emagic istruments (EXS included)
to respond to CC's from my new MIDI controller with lots O' knobs. I can see
in the enviornment that the CC message is being recieved and it's the proper
CC mesage per EXS manual..but alas I can't even get the filter cutoff to
respond..Logic 6.4 with AMT8 MIDI interface..someone shed some light for
me please..I'm tired of fiddiling and just want to make some music.

thanx
Silas

Maybe you are sending a control message instead of a fader message?
Anyway, forget the manual. Cable the instrument channel to a monitor
object. Then open EXS and move the element you want to control by
mouse. Look at the monitor for the values coming out. Now make sure you
are sending the same in.

For the cutoff ist must be
Type: Fader
Channel: 2
CC: 25
Values go from 0-126 but 127 does no harm.

Yeah, but why my Edirol controller won't have any FADER type message.

What you have to do is go to OLD SONGS and chanche the behaviour to the old 67-127

When we talk about pre-Logic 7 you already use transformers in the
environment, don't you?
Just look what comes in from the Edirol, convert it to what you want
and cable it to the instrument channel. For plugins (all faders) a
transformer map is perfect but tedious. Of course, you don't have any
range scaling this way but it fits for many purposes.

I think this will all be different with the new Logic version, but not
sure yet.
